Our Trip to Mount Etna

We spent the last day of spring break up on Mt Etna. We enjoyed a picnic in the woods and then played a little in the snow. Look closely and you can see the smoke coming out of the top of the volcano. It was extremely beautiful!

Egg Hunt

The hunt is on. Luckily we remembered to count the eggs before hand and they found them all.

Easter

We haven't posted forever because Caleb hasn't taken any pictures! So, in the interest of keeping the blog current, I am going to post pictures taken by Carmen as well. Here are a bunch of Easter pictures. The Easter bunny was able to find us and Ella thought she was in heaven. She woke up and there was candy hidden all over the house. It doesn't get better than that!

Felix

My friend from Colorado sent me Felix the rabbit to visit for a week. Here are some pictures I sent him and my reply:

Dear Michael
Thank you for sending Felix to me. I had a fun time showing him around Sicily. He got to see what the military base is like and where I go to school. He also got to see the Mediterranean Sea. I live very close to the water in a town called Catania.
I think the thing Felix liked best about his visit was seeing Mt. Etna. Mt. Etna is an active volcano. Since moving here in July 2006 I have seen lava pouring out of the top many times. It is really cool. Right now there is snow on the top of it. You can see more pictures of Felix and I on my blog http://sicilianadventure.blogspot.com
I would love for Felix to come back and visit again. There is so much to see on this island and I know he would have fun. Thank you again for letting me have Felix for a week.

Taormina

We went to a Greek theater in Taormina. We saw where they did plays. It was like going back many years. I saw beautiful views of the ocean because Taormina is on top of a big hill.

Trip to Palermo 02JAN07 By: Caleb

Today I went to Palermo from Catania. We went the shortcut. When we got there, we had trouble with traffic. But it was cool. We saw a clown juggling bowling pins. Then we went to see skeletons over one hundred years old. There was more than a hundred of them. Next we went to a very old church. After that it started to rain. We took a drive to an Opera House and then we saw a rainbow on mainland. We went under about 74 tunnels. Then we went to Taormina and went up, up, up, up, to the top. The End.

These pictures were taken by my mom of the rainbow and looking across the Straits of Messina to mainland Italy.

Palermo

These are some pictures I took in Palermo of the cathedral and opera house. I will write more about the trip later.

Palermo Catacombe dei Cappuccini

Here are two postcards from the catacombs in Palermo. We pretended it was like the Pirates of the Caribbean so it wasn't too scary.

Mt Etna's Explosion

My Pop took these pictures of the ash on his car. Mt. Etna erupted and there was ash everywhere! It closed down the airport for awhile and coated everything in black.

A Room With A View

This is a view of the ocean from my room! You may have to click on this to see.

The Greeks and Romans

We went to the Teatro Greco in Siracusa. It was very cool. Just think, the Apostle Paul went to Syracuse. Maybe he spoke in the Greek theater or the roman ampitheater!

Our first look at the Med!

We drove up the coast and found a really cool castle in Acicastello. The water looked like a lot of fun.
